Blue Rock Fun!

I feel like I have neglected my blog lately. But it’s all for a good cause! I’ve started writing on a freelance basis a couple of weeks ago and up till now, that’s all I’ve been busy with.

So what have I been up to in the last few days? Apart from writing, I’ve been spending time with my ‘family’ – that is Dawie and his kids. Last Sunday, we went to Bluerock along with his friends, Steven, Henk and Vanessa. Steven brought his daughter along so the kids had a blast swimming and also, a couple of rides on the boat minus JD since he didn’t seem interested.

Dawie, the kids and I were there as early as 10am (perhaps earlier) and already, people were coming in albeit the windy and rainy morning. Then later around 11ish, his friends came and a couple of hours later, they started to braai. Steven brough along sandwiches made of bread, tomatoes, onions and cheese – it was REALLY good! The simple things in life seem to be the best thing, I say! Even the meat Dawie prepared with his mother’s special seasoning was just as good – again, he didn’t put anything else but the seasoning and I enjoyed them very much. Henk brought along some of his own meat (no puns intended!) which he marinated by himself and I must say, they were tasty.

While they were busy braai-ing, I was busy wrapping up my work for the day. Yes, I actually brought work along (how boring!) and managed to finish them in time. After all that was done and the sun was out for a bit, I joined Dawie and kids for a swim. The water was wee bit too cold for me! I was extremely exhausted by the end of the day because apart from the swimming, I was kicking ball with JD and jumping up and down the trampoline – pphheewww! All in all, it was a great day and all that thanks to everyone involved especially Dawie. Without him, I don’t think I’d have as much fun as I have been having since I got here ‘smile’.
